Fault in Falcon Sensor Update Triggers Widespread Disruptions
A software update to the Falcon Sensor program, run by US company CrowdStrike, has triggered a coding error that has caused millions of Windows computers to malfunction.
The global computer outage, which began on Thursday, has affected airports, banks, and other businesses. The health care and banking sectors were the hardest hit, with estimated losses of $194 billion and $115 billion, respectively.
According to reports, CrowdStrike has promised to improve its testing process going forward. The company has not yet released a statement on the cause of the outage.
